CLASSIC CUSTOM TRITON CAFE RACER
’67 TRIUMPH TR6R ENGINE, ’63 NORTON ATLAS SLIMLINE FEATHERBED CHASSIS

On offer is a custom built classic “Triton” cafe racer based on a ’67 Triumph TR6R Trophy 650 twin engine in a ’63 Norton Atlas Slimline Featherbed chassis.
There are no two Tritons alike, this one has it’s own special bits and features, as they all do. It’s a good runner, but needs a few minor details sorted to the buyer’s liking. It also features some alternate parts according to the buyer’s wish (see below). This project was started way back in 2007, and has only just been fired up in August of this year, It has only been ridden on a few short test rides up and down the block.
CHASSIS – ’63 Norton Atlas 750 Slimline Featherbed frame & swingarm. Born Again Bikes 6061 alloy engine mounting adapter plates. Born Again Bikes 3/4″ high grade steel swingarm spindle upgrade kit with sintered bronze bushings.
SUSPENSION – Norton “Roadholder” forks, overhauled with new bushings & seals (need gaiters or proper rain protection); lower legs polished. Billet alloy fork yokes (triple clamps). New Girling look-alike rear shocks.
WHEELS, BRAKES & TIRES – Akront shouldered alloy wheels laced by Buchanan’s. Front brake is Norton twin leading shoe/drum, rear brake is Norton single leading shoe/drum. Tires are Pirellis, new but installed on the rims around 2008.
Power Unit: Overhauled ’67 Triumph TR6R Trophy 650. All new gaskets, seals, bearings, bushings, primary chain, clutch plates, hoses, valves & guides. Polished Timing cover.
Top End: .020 oversize new pistons & rings, new Kibblewhite valves, new Rowe guides, valves lapped to refurbished seats, polished rockerboxes, Webco finned rocker feed oil manifold.
Primary: New primary chain, new clutch friction plates, polished cover.
Intake & Exhaust- New Mikuni VM round slide carbs with “pancake style K&N filters, new standard Triumph exhaust system with choice of new classic style mufflers, used open megaphones, or used mini-mufflers (not pictured).
Transmission – 4-speed, with new seals, bearings & bushings; gears, shafts & forks in excellent condition. Transmission outer cover polished.
HAND & FOOT CONTROLS – New Thomaselli clip-on handlebars, newTarozzi rearset footpegs & controls. New classic chromed Doherty style hand levers &grips.
ELECTRICAL & LIGHTING – Includes a NEW cloth-wrapped Norton wiring harness with some adaptation for the electronic ignition. Classic chrome thumbswitch (horn/dip) in decent shape, Barrel type new keyswitch. Clamp-on new alloy headlight ears holding chrome (pitted) headlight shell; vintage style “limp noodle” small tail light. No turn signals. New small form factor AGM battery. New Sparx electronic ignition system with new Emgo dual 6v coils, new Sparx solid state regulator/rectifier. Good condition Lucas single phase alternator. Domi Racer matching speedometer & tachometer, may need sorting if the drive ratios are wrong.
BODYWORK – Lyta Sprint style new molded fiberglass fuel tank, needs liner for use with ethanol based fuel. Used “Bum Stop” cafe racer seat with decent upholstery, used rear fender. Used Norton front fender with mounts. Buyer may opt for the saddle tan tuck-and-roll upholstered seat at no additional charge. Buyer may opt for a beautiful alloy tank with “Triton” decals for an additional $800.00.
OTHER – Most hardware / fasteners are freshly Cadmium plated. New Gates oil & fuel resistant hoses. RK drive chain. “Patina’ed” Atlas oil tank. Spin-on oil filter. All fresh Castrol dino-based lubricants. Actual mileage of donor chassis and engine is unknown, but engine, chassis & suspension are fully overhauled. I have made every effort to list every detail, but may have overlooked one or two things. DOCUMENTATION – Bill of Sale only included in auction price. New registration and license plate at BUYER’S COST.
BACK STORY – THE ENGINE OVERHAUL WAS NOT DONE BY ME. It was done by a third party for the owner, who commissioned me to complete the required details (wiring, ignition, final timing & adjustments) to get it running and roadworthy, then sell it.
SHIPPING – Shipping is the responsibility of the BUYER. I recommend Keyboard Motorcycle Shippers or J.C.Motors. I can disassemble and/or crate the bike FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE.

SOLD AS-IS, WHERE-IS. Many of the core parts on this bike are over 40 years old and there is no way to guarantee them. I do stand behind my work, and will assist the buyer to the best of my ability from long distance, should the need arise. Motorcycles are inherently dangerous, and buyer assumes all risk and liability as soon as the motorcycle is loaded up and removed from my property.
