1969 Honda CL450 Scrambler.  Original “matching numbers” bike. Frame: CL450-1013673  Engine: CL450E-1013719   Only 46 numbers apart. I have the original clear Michigan TITLE signed off on by the original owner and it was issued “July 25, 1969”.  I purchased this motorcycle from someone who purchased it from the estate of the original owner.

I bought this bike 2 years ago with the intention of doing a complete restoration, but haven’t been able to get to it yet, so I am selling it on to someone else who can appreciate it.

The original owner had passed away. His brother said that the son had taken the engine out of the bike and was going to dis-assemble it for a high school shop project but that the bike had been a good running bike.  He got the engine out and the head and jug off and one of the pistons out and then realized he was in over his head.  The dealer I purchased the bike from put the jug, head, and the exhaust back on the bike and only finger-tightened everything. The oil appears very clean. The bike is very nearly complete as far as I know or can see. It is missing the tool kit, battery, and mirrors. The parts, pictured, which are not on the bike, will be included in a box.

I hooked up a battery charger to the cables and lights, etc. worked. The wiring appears in an unmolested state from what I can see.  The brakes work. You will need to disassemble the motor out and re-do whatever needs doing. I would replace the pistons and rings, at least.

The tank is solid and fairly clean inside as seen in the picture. The seat is very good; the foam has squished down slightly, and the cover though worn, has no holes and could be reused, after adding some new foam in between. Under the seat is clean: very light surface rust only around the battery holder, as seen in the pictures. The clutch seems to work fine. The exhaust is very solid, shiny chrome, no holes and only some very light surface discoloration on the bottom; see pictures. looks fantastic as is. The ’69s have the “straight” exhaust, which I prefer, which has a unique look from the later years. Very nice condition, and one of the best features of this bike.
I strongly recommend an in person inspection by you or your representative. If there is something that you would like to see a picture of, or want further information on, I will do my best to accommodate your request.
