For sale is a custom rebuilt cafe’ racing style motorcycle, Ella, based on a number matched ( Frame and Engine ) 1976 BMW R75/6 with 42,000 original miles. The previous owner is one of our local BMW club members and we have been friends for years. This BMW motorcycle was his long-distance traveling machine for years until he bought a 1988 BMW K75S. This R75/6 has been laying in the side of the garage after that until we took it over in August 2020.

We are 3 local long term vintage BMW enthusiasms/collectors/restorers/riders who are teaming up to maintain our 60+ combined vintage BMW motorcycles with passion. This is my side project to fulfil my own dream. This 1976 BMW motorcycle was teared down to frame and crank for the refreshment. Every single part was inspected, cleaned, measured, replaced if needed during the restoring process. Little more than a year of time and energy were invested to build a cafe’ style motorcycle of my dream. I thought I would never sell this motorcycle so everything was done in the mind set of everything has to be right. Please see the photos for rebuilt process and details.

After the whole year of non-stopping modifying, testing, and adjusting, the restoration process was enjoyable and riding experience is even better. The torque from the famous BMW 750cc flat twin engine with the perfect matched smooth 5 speed transmission bring the soul to the sound of under seat exhaust pipes. You can clearly hear the breathing sound form the 52mm racing Velocity stack in-take. The narrow and low seat ( ~29.5 inch) and custom made rear-set ( footpegs ) with adjustable clip-on provides endless possible comfortable riding position. The lowered chassis and improved front and rear suspension deliver the stable and nimble riding experience. The reason this bike is placing at the entrance of the warehouse is because I often just sit there and stare at it. It’s just so beautiful to just look at it.

I have to warm you!! If you don’t like attentions from others, this is NOT the motorcycle for you.

This link provides you 100+ more photos of this motorcycle in detail. Please let me know if you have trouble viewing it or you had any more questions.

I thought I will never sell this bike because this is exactly the way that my dream BMW café’ racer should look. However, I need the garage space for the upcoming projects. Like people say, you will have to give up something in the life to gain more.

Few high lights of the restorations,

Front fork was completely rebuilt, and shorten. The fork springs were replaced with progressive spring to improve the handling. Combining with new adjustable rear shocks, the bike has been lowered about 2 inches. The new seat height is about 29.5 inches. Custom made rear set was installed to provide a more natural riding position. A set of very rare light weight casted Lester gold rims are teaming up with a pair of new Continental Conticlassicattack, one of the best classic tires in the market, to bring the power to the ground. Front brake system was completely rebuilt and converted to handlebar mount master cylinder for sharper brake feeling and power. New brake shoes were replaced and adjusted for the rear brake.

The engine was refreshed with new piston rings. Pistons were cleaned, inspected and balanced with the new rods/clips. Top end was resealed with new valve guild seat and n ew gaskets. All 4 valves were cleaned/inspected. Valve gaps were properly set.

New clutch plate was installed, and clutch system was cleaned, graced packed with high temperature grease, and adjusted/set.

Mechanically, this 46 years old Vintage reliable BMW runs as good as it should be. Easy start and idling like a well maintained sewing machine. I try to preserve the 70’s classic racing motorcycle style with more modern look and personal touch and characters. It’s a 100% functional vintage motorcycle with some aging evidences and patina which was purposely preserved for adding the characters. Please see photos for more details.
