One of a kind BMW 1978 R60/7, Custom Built and Fully Restored Cafe Racer – 1978 frame/engine/power train, Boxer engine, Shaft Driven, high end European wheel set, fork, and all non stock parts. This was custom built by a master BMW mechanic at GRASS ROOTS Motorcycles in Cape Girardeau Missouri, frame off, full engine rebuild, everything powder coated or painted in 2013 or 2014, anyway I purchased it in 2016, the previous owner only put 1,000 or so miles on it and since then I have driven under 250 miles (just to close bike events, car shows, or around the neighborhood). The title states 28000 on the bike, original odometer did not come with the bike after restoration. I do not have any of the stock parts from the build, there was a write up on the build online by the builders, but I can no longer find it. This Spring I got a full tune up for it including the clutch cable replaced, carbs rebuilt, and all fluids changed. The Digital tach/speedo works fine, but that technology has come along way since this was built and I would have it upgraded to better track the original miles & ensure RPM’s & speed is accurate. This has never seen rain and never been parking outside since resto, once a kid tried to sit on it, but they were chased away. There are some paint chips on the clutch grip, one tiny plastic spider crack on the tail cowl, and the choke is not adjusted to help start or warm up the bike (has never been necessary so never dialed it in). Runs great, starts every time, I always run the gas out of the carbs and warm it up fully prior to riding it, which I don’t do anyway. Rides great too!
