1978 Harley-Davidson Cafe Racer XLCR 1000cc. A rare piece of Harley Davidson history – created by Willie G Davidson himself. This 1978 model is virtually complete and correct for its model year (roughly only 1200 made in 1978). This bike starts quickly and a runs very well with no issues. I have the AMF decals (NOS) for the oil tank and side cover. I’ve owned it for slightly over a decade. The choke knob next to the ignition switch is a direct mechanical hookup item. It has been disconnected from its link to the choke on the carb as the rod connection to the knob will not move – Perhaps the rod sheath has been pinched. One has to reach behind the front of the carb and manually move the choke for starts on a cold day. The bike needs only blinkers (I believe are common stock to the other models of the year) and the mirrors (possibly custom to the bike) to be 100% complete. It has the ‘buddy-axle’ (a rare option for the bike) on the rear with footpegs. The tank badges were gold colored originally but either faded or rubbed off over time. There are some scratches on the front fairing (see pics). This is a factory original bike with matching numbers with the letter “F” in the VIN – exclusive to XLCR’s. This bike has been insured and registered by me in the state of Georgia for several years. So the VIN is free and clear. However, there is NO TITLE with this bike. It will be a standard GA Bill of Sale form only – with evidence of my previous registration in the state of Georgia.

Thank you very much for viewing and especially perhaps for bidding!!
