For your consideration is the 1980 Kawasaki KZ550 Street Tracker / Brat style motorcycle. I rebuilt this bike back at the end of August and spent the rest of the summer months tinkering with it and riding it around the mountains of North Carolina. The bike is a blast to ride and handles great!

First up, you can see that it has had an extensive amount of refinishing work done. The last four pictures detail this work. The tank, side covers and headlight bucket were all coated in a brilliant golden yellow. The yellow does have a fine pearl in it which stands out a bit in the sun. The tank and side covers were then detailed with a brown metallic lace pattern which matches the fork legs and the rear brake support. The triple trees and wheels were also refinished in gloss black. Overall the paint looks great and while not perfect, you have to really search for flaws to find them.
The bike also has a good amount of new additions as can be seen. Included are: New Moose Racing motocross handlebars, new fork bearings, new push button switch, new throttle grip, new grips, new amber headlight, new fork seals and fork oil, new tires, new front brake pads, new carburetor intakes, new uni filters, new front and passenger foot pegs, new voltage regulator, new gold zinc coated chain, new battery, new license plate mount and tail light, new seat, new points and new dyna coil ignition coils. Oh, and I almost forgot it has NOS rear Emgo shocks. They were new but I got them at a slight discount because they were out of box. These raised the back end a little bit and really improved handling. Also, I guess I should mention the Vance & Hines 4 to 1 exhaust. It came with the bike and while not new is in great shape, definitely helps performance and it sounds great!

The bike runs nicely and starts up great (electric ignition is strong and works excellent). The wiring has been simplified to run on key on / off and the headlight to come on with key power. The running lights and brake lights work excellent.

I know I’m probably forgetting things but I will try to update as I think of them. Be sure to ask any questions you may have! Thanks for looking!
Also, don’t be afraid to make an offer. While yes, I would like to get as much as possible for what I think is a very nice and one of a kind bike, I am flexible and am looking to fund my next build (Honda CB360)….
