What is a cafe racer?
A cafe racer is a stripped-down sprint bike: low clip-on bars, a solo seat with a rear cowl, rear-set pegs, and nothing aboard that doesn't help it go fast between two points. The style was born with the Ton-Up boys around London's Ace Cafe in the late 1950s and 60s, racing modified British twins — Triumph, Norton, BSA — from the cafe to a landmark and back before a record finished playing. Today it's a build style more than a race class: take an old, honest donor and pare it back to that lean, purposeful shape.
